An early morning raid at the Qalakabusha Correctional Centre in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, has yielded a large quantity of contraband, including cellphones, chargers, dagga, umuthi and cash. There have been growing concerns over the management of the facility.

Four dangerous inmates escaped in three separate incidents within the space of a year.
