যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে শনাক্ত হলো করোনার নতুন ধরন ওমিক্রন। ক্যালিফোর্নিয়ার ওই বাসিন্দা সম্প্রতি সাউথ আফ্রিকা থেকে ফিরেছিলেন। ওমিক্রন সাউথ আফ্রিকা থেকে শুরু হয়ে এ পর্যন্ত ছড়িয়েছে ২৩টি দেশে। সংক্রমণ রোধে এরই মধ্যে আফ্রিকার কয়েকটি দেশের ওপর ভ্রমণ নিষেধাজ্ঞা দিয়েছে ৭০টির বেশি দেশ-অঞ্চল।
